MARRIAGE

THE SACRAMENT

Marriage is a sacrament of the Church, one of total and lifelong love between a man and a woman. It is a sacrament because it, in some way, reflects and participates in the total and unfailing love of God for humankind. The Catholic Church teaches that marriage is a Christian vocation. wedding is a celebration of this sacrament.

For a marriage to proceed at Sts Peter and Paul's, at least one of the parties must be a baptised Catholic and both parties be free to marry, i.e. both have never been validly married before. If one or both of you were involved in a previous religious or civil marriage, then please indicate this before you book.

THE CHURCH

Our church has a capacity of approximately 300 people.

THE CELEBRANT

If you are a regular worshipping member of the parish community, you will already know the parish priest. Please arrange to meet with him to arrange your wedding. The parish priest or one of the other Capuchins will be available to celebrate your wedding. Not all the details below will apply to you, so begin with a conversation with the parish priest.

If you are not a regular worshipping member of the parish community you are welcome to use the Church for your wedding. You will need to arrange for a Catholic priest or deacon to celebrate your wedding. He will need to have the necessary accreditation with the Catholic Archdiocese of Melbourne. You will need to advise the parish office of the celebrant's details at the time of the booking.
